You Think Political Correctness is a Game?

Sir Tim Hunt, who was awarded the Nobel prize in physiology or medicine in 2001 and who was knighted in 2006, has resigned from his position as honorary professor at the University College London after his recent comments in a science conference in South Korea: “Let me tell you about my trouble with girls. Three things happen when they are in the lab: you fall in love with them, they fall in love with you, and when you criticise them they cry.” Speaking to BBC Radio, Sir Tim said: “I’m really, really sorry I caused any offence, that’s awful. I certainly didn’t mean that. I just meant to be honest, actually. It was a very stupid thing to do in the presence of all those journalists“.

Following a broad backlash over his support of California‘s gay marriage ban in 2008, Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich has stepped down. Mitchell Baker, executive chairwoman of the Mozilla Foundation, the nonprofit best known for its Firefox browser, announced Eich’s resignation in a blog post, apologizing to users for its slow response. “We’re sorry. We must do better,” she said. Known as the father of the programing language JavaScript, Eich donated $1,000 in 2008 to support Proposition 8, a California constitutional amendment that banned same-sex marriage.
